Day 181 Palmetto Sunset
As promised, here is the other sunset shot from yesterday that I tried to recreate today. Today was the first day since I started this project that, other than just not having a camera when I wanted one, I had technical difficulties. I'm still not sure why, but the only memory card I had with me would only let me save one picture. So I felt like I was on one of those game shows where I had to decide whether to keep what I had won or give it up for what I might win next. The conditions weren't as good as last night and seemed to be deteriorating, so this was my final prize for the day.

Day 180 Moss in the Sunset
I just realized I already have a "moss-draped tree" photo this month, but I couldn't resist this one. I took a trip to the Orange Beach Waterfront Park tonight and it was well worth the time! This one is my pick for the day, but a palmetto silhouette came in a very close second. I might have to go back tomorrow to get that one again so I can share it, too. I am very lucky to live here.

Day 179 Biloxi Boats
This is not what I thought today's picture was going to be. I wandered around the amazing tree trunk sculptures in the Katrina Garden in Biloxi, but the light and the weather just weren't cooperating. Then as I was leaving town the sun popped out and this scene caught my eye.

Day 178 Yard Art
Here's a scene outside the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art in Biloxi, Mississippi. They are very big on pottery here! Very interesting Gehry architecture. We also really enjoyed a great photography exhibit entitled Above All, Enjoy the Music: Jazz Photography by Herman Leonard.

My finds at the produce markets this morning included this lone sunflower. Thanks, Phyllis!

Day 175 One Bike
Last night I saw 30 or so cyclists passing by as I was having dinner, without my camera. Tonight when I saw one I was determined to get a shot.

174 Some Kind of Light
This was the light above me at the Saenger tonight. It was the best view I had. But hey, I can't complain about free tickets, right? Luckily, I could hear the music just fine and man, it was great! I recommend hearing Roman Street and Mithril to anyone who has the chance. . . . And what a beautiful venue.

Day 172 Feather
I have to admit this project forces me to see some things right in front of me that I walk by a dozen times a day and don't notice. That's especially true on days when at 9 pm I realize I haven't taken a picture yet.

Day 170 Floating By
It always amazes me how those balloon pilots can sneak up on you. Out of nowhere you hear "wrrrrrr" and all of a sudden they pop up over the trees. Then they just float silently by. I'm not sure they ended up where they wanted to but they were sure fun to watch this morning.

Day 169 Fired Up
Freedom Flyer is one of more than 40 balloons in town for the Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival. Seeing them lift off this morning was a beautiful sight.

Day 166 Ethereal
Ethereal is the word that came to mind when I saw this picture of Cheryl. I wasn't really sure what it meant, it just seemed to be the right word. After reading about a half dozen different definitions, I now feel confident that one of them fits.

Day 165 Flag Day
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands: one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Day 163 More to the Story
This is my guitar. The one I photographed a few days ago is one I inherited. Mine alone does not make a particularly interesting picture. But as with many aspects of our relationship, when combined with his, it gets better. There is a story to be told there, whether through pictures or through words. So I post this picture tonight in honor of the great storyteller and photographer Kathryn Tucker Windham and I promise to, somehow, tell the story.

Day 161 Teresa
I had a great visit with Teresa and her son Christopher tonight. It's hard to imagine that it was so many years ago we were playing guitars together before going off to college. Funny, we haven't changed a bit! I caught Teresa posing as a tourist from Idaho taking pictures during our walk at the Wharf. But she showed her true colors, orange and blue, when Christopher found a hounds tooth hat he wanted. I thought it was beautiful. . . . Like I said, we haven't changed a bit.

Day 159 Lines and Curves
I can't believe I haven't done one guitar photo all year. If I'm not going to play it the least I can do is take a picture of it! It has lots of interesting angles. I think there will be more to come.

Day 156 Pam Through Wine Glass
Almost without fail, when I ask someone if they would like to be the subject of my picture of the day they say no. Today my friend Pam agreed . . . with a catch.

Day 153 Dames At Sea
Summer Tide Theatre's Dames at Sea will run June 3 through July 1 at the George C. Meyer Performing Arts Center in Gulf Shores. I got a preview tonight and it was great! Congratulations and thanks to the Professional Summer Theatre of The University of Alabama on its eighth annual performance here.

Day 152 You Lookin' At Me?
It's June 1st and I had to go all the way back to January to find a picture of a Blue Heron. That's hard to believe considering how many pictures I've shot of the one who frequents my backyard. Maybe he'll make the cut one day. But since today was the first day of snapper season, I thought I'd get some shots of boats coming into the pass this evening. I did that, but got distracted by this guy who was obviously in the mood to pose for some portraits.
