Day 124: Defending the Homefront

I had an amazing walk in Gulf State Park this morning. I went in search of Bald Eagles, which I saw. I also saw lots of other birds and even a deer. This Northern Flicker was one of the most active of the birds I saw. He (she?) seemed to be very angry with a Red Bellied Woodpecker who was poking, literally, in and around a hole in a dead tree. I'm not sure who won, but I do know the woodpecker was not willing to go quietly.

This is one of those sights that just never gets old for me. Today I recorded it with a little HDR effect. There was only one little sliver of a beautiful sunset surrounded by blustery clouds but the light reflected in amazing ways.

I'm so glad we took the time to play around with portraits today. I was lucky to get this "before" picture of Ron . . . . before he ended up in the ER with a broken nose. He's okay, but I'm not sure he'll allow any "after" pictures to be posted.
