Day 272 Important Notice

Apparently there is a designated area for falling down in the street. I did not know that until today.

Day 271 Culinary Artistry

These talented chef-instructors spent the day leading their students in an effort to show 8th graders the opportunities in culinary arts. They drew quite a crowd and they and their students did some very impressive work! Faulkner State Community College has great programs at their Gulf Shores campus.

Day 269 Weathered

I took a walk on the pier at Waterfront Park tonight. I liked the look of this cool detail in the weathered wood.

Day 268 Popsicle?

The only things in the freezer of this outside fridge are popsicles. Do you think he wants one?

Day 267 Fire Truck

I got to shoot quite a variety of subjects today with Phyllis. I'm glad this stop was on her list.

Day 263 Lowcountry

I visited the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn on Hilton Head Island this evening. Local culture and natural habitats were on display, including this this demonstration of sea grass basket weaving. She told me this basket took about a week to make. The local cuisine was the biggest hit of the night. Oysters, fish and grits and ribs were all delicious!

Day 262 Local Favorites

When the most popular thing on the menu is pulled pork and it comes topped with pickled okra, you must be in South Carolina.

Day 259 Cool Birds

I got to see lots of cool birds today, along with some alligators and manatees. These White Ibis are not the most rare birds we saw, but I just like them.

Day 258 Eastpoint, Florida

I had a wonderful drive along the coast of the Florida panhandle today. I stopped to get this shot and as lagniappe found a whole bunch (flock? swarm?) of butterflies. Had fun trying to get them to pose, but this shot was my pick pic for the day.

Day 257 Evidence

Here's a picture of my boat. Just in case the people who stole the motor off it come back for the boat, you can all help me identify it.

Day 255 Wings

This guy was hanging out under the light on my front porch tonight. Those wings looks so delicate!

Day 253 Triathlon

I didn't have much time for pictures during my volunteer shift at the triathlon. These athletes are very impressive. I'm so happy they had a beautiful day for the race.

Day 252 New App

I got a cool new app today called 100 Cameras in 1. It has lots of (100) effects. I took this with my cell phone. Granted, my lamp is funky to begin with, but I really liked what I could do to it.

Day 250 An Hour at the Beach

I spent an hour at the beach tonight. What a treat! I followed this sandpiper around for quite a while, watching him search for some supper, I found a sand dollar and I watched the sun set. The light was beautiful and the temperature was darn near perfect.

Day 249 Seeing Things

Today I was so determined to find a picture that showcased the bright blue, no-haze sky with perfect fluffy white clouds. Look what happened when I thought I'd found it. On cue, a dragon fly appeared in the shot. Was it to remind me that a project called "Seeing Things" should be about looking beyond the obvious? Or am I just imagining things? I don't know, but I thought it was a pretty cool capture.

Day 248 Blustery

This guy went above and beyond today. He withstood the rain and the wind gusts all day, so I thought it was only right to feature him again.

Day 247 Easy

I was grateful when my friendly neighborhood heron showed up to give me an easy shot on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Day 245 Nice Light

Even on a rainy evening there was a nice light coming through the window onto the couch.

Day 244 Spoon Full of Sugar

I stole this idea from Misty. She had a much more creative shot including a strawberry. Check her out at http://throughaphotographerseyes.blogspot.com/. She's got some amazing shots. I'll keep trying . . .
