Day 106: Heirloom

This was Debbie's grandmother's. Now it's Debbie's. Time marches on, but it's nice that we can take some things with us on the walk.

Day 105: Fireworks??

Fireworks in 803? Wow. Some rooms are more exciting than others at this hotel!

Day 104: Laundry

The tradition in New Orleans is that Monday is laundry day and red beans and rice simmer all day while the wash is being done. How did I end up on a Monday night with a mountain of laundry and no red beans and rice? Maybe I've been away from New Orleans for too long!

Day 103: Clear Eyes

This guy could not have cared less that I was around. Those eyes were looking for his next meal.

Day 102: Exploring Fort Morgan

I explored Fort Morgan today with Phyllis Freels and had a blast! The shapes, the textures, the colors and the light were mesmerizing. We played with HDR and with close-up shots. This is one of my favorites from the day.

Day 99: Limes for April

These limes are for my friend April, who is finding "limeness" -- gratefulness, happiness, strength, comfort -- in the face of illness. In the process, she's sharing that with us all and inspiring us to find silver linings every day. Thank you, April. Thank you for the reminder that whatever else is in the picture, some days we have to let it all fade away and focus on the lime.

Day 97: Ring Around the Moon

What an amazing sight tonight! I wish I could have done a better job of capturing it. I thought this perspective was pretty cool though; a bit spooky, too.

Day 96: Duck, Duck

Late this afternoon I realized my time was running out to take advantage of the sunshine for today's picture. I looked out the back door and saw these perfectly posed wood ducks at the edge of the water. Since they were in the shade I didn't get to shoot in the sunshine, but I think the color of these beautiful birds is worth the trade off.

Day 91: Is That Greek?

The fog was thick over the bay today and I thought  the "bones" of piers and boat houses against the fog made a cool, moody picture. At least that's what I thought at first. After the first couple minutes, all I could think of was the Greek alphabet.

Day 88: Technology

Bennett Reetz had some fun figuring out how to use this old timey technology for "cutting" checks and then explaining how it works to his mom. Thanks to Bennett and his scout pack for helping at the e-cycling event at Gulf State Park today.

Day 87: Traffic

This is where I was stuck at the time I had hoped I'd be finding a great shot for today. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow. I hope the people in the wreck are okay.

Day 86: Colors

I am definitely looking forward to longer days. Seems like forever since I shot a picture in the daylight.

Day 81: Preferred Seating

This is just one of the many eclectic seating options at The Gulf. I hope to visit enough to try them all. It's a wonderful outdoor venue overlooking Perdido Pass in Orange Beach.

Day 80: Watching the Sunset

I made it to the beach just after the sun set today. I can't describe how beautiful the sky was. There were only about a half a dozen people at that spot on the beach but they were all mesmerized, as I was. Usually the people I see on the beach or pass on the board walk around here are friendly enough, but an amazing thing happens at times like these; these beautiful sunsets we've had lately. Everybody seems to be feeling the same amazement and gratefulness to have witnessed such a sight, and even though we may only share a smile or a nod or a few words, they are all a bit warmer, friendlier. What a gift!

Day 79: Local Flavor

What's for dinner? Gulf oysters Rockefeller with Sweet Home Farm cheese cooked and served on a Sea Oat Studio oyster platter. This is a very resourceful place to live! I wish the picture could have done the taste justice, but I was too impatient to stop and get the photos right. I couldn't wait to EAT!

Day 78: Joy

I got some joy from a friend for Christmas so I thought I'd share on this gray, wintery day.
