Day 120 Delicate

I got to shoot lots of pictures today of a variety of subjects. I was reminded by a friend how lucky we are to live in a place with such a diversity of natural beauty. This picture exhibits my "assignment" of the day, which was to shoot with a shallow depth of field. It also reminds me, given both the happy occasions I've celebrated and terrible circumstances I've witnessed in the span of just a week, how delicate life is.

Day 119 Lucky

I took a minute to go to the beach this afternoon. The sun was shining, birds were nesting and people were playing. I felt very lucky.

Day 115 Couples Night

I think it was couples night at the waterfront park. I didn't notice at first, but when I looked closely I saw that the pelicans were all paired up on the short pilings. They seemed to be enjoying the sunset, too.

Day 114 Easter Frock

Happy Easter! Ashlyn was by far the best dressed at the family Easter gathering, sporting a beautiful dress for the occassion.

Day 112 The Cross

One day several weeks ago when I was looking for a picture for the day, I found this cross hanging in a tree in my back yard. It was just a couple of sticks caught up in some vines, but it struck me that day. Then, as often happens, a "better" picture came along that day. Today, as I thought about Good Friday, I remembered the cross, went for a look and found it was still there. It's appropriate for today and it was a good symbolic Lenten lesson for me to be reminded that no matter what else comes along, it will still be there.

Day 111 Fish Out of Water

This guy was a hit at the Clean Coast Expo today. I caught him outside getting some fresh air before leaving. As a matter of fact, he's all about air . . . His job is to demonstrate fish venting techniques. Thanks for introducing me, Nicole!

Day 109 Hat

This picture needs a really good story to go with it, but I'm just too tired to make one up. I'll try to do better tomorrow.

Day 107 Supper on the Sand

I had the privilege of being a part of a great event today. Five hundred people gathered at one table on the beach to celebrate the resilience of our great Gulf Coast community. Lots of people worked lots of hours and walked lots of miles in the sand to get us to today -- and through today. I'm very lucky that many of them are friends of mine. Thanks to you all.

Day 106 Chef

Apparently being a chef requires a lot more skills than I realized.

103 Sweet Home

Isn't this is the coolest chicken coop ever? It's at Sweet Home Farm in Elberta. Check them out!

Day 102 Handful

Jessica had a hard time trying to gather up her daughter and her mom for a picture. It was a good day to hang on to family.

Day 97 Centerpiece

I got a new phone so I thought I'd try out the camera in it. Not bad, in my opinion.

Day 96 Gandhi

Everyday I look at this sign hanging over my desk. Why is it so difficult to do?

Day 93 Masked Man

Who is that masked man? Why he's a Cedar Waxwing, of course! Check out the tips of his wings, which look like they've been dipped in red wax, and the bright yellow tip of his tail. I am very proud of myself for looking him up in my Birds of Alabama Field Guide. Who knows, I might become a birder after all.

Day 92 Buzz

Once again, I am following a few days behind my friend Laura who had a bee shot earlier this week. I went out to get one last shot of the azaleas before they are all gone and these guys were buzzing everywhere.

Day 91 Deja Vu

I am all out of ideas this week. Since this one worked pretty well last week I decided to shoot it again.
