Day 193: Little Green Dance

This Little Green Heron seemed to be trying to judge the wind speed before he took off.

Day 192: On Main Street

Phyllis and I cruised the car show on Main Street at The Wharf for our monthly outing. Our focus was on capturing close up images but for some reason I keep coming back to this one as of of my favorites of the day.

Day 190: Happy Birthday April

Here's April enjoying her coffee and her beachfront view -- and my company, of course. I'm so glad I got to celebrate this birthday with her. I love seeing that smile. Happy Birthday April!

Day 189: Peli Belly

Here's the view looking up at the underside of a pelican in flight. Quite a wingspan and quite aerodynamically amazing.

Day 185: Praying for Friends

Tonight I'm saying a prayer for strangers far away and for friends near and far. I have friends suffering, caring for ill family members and mourning the loss of loved ones. I wish them strength and peace.

Day 184: Sharing the Beach

I got to watch today as Share the Beach volunteers who work with the local sea turtle patrol conducted a demonstration for a group of visiting 5th graders. Here, the students carefully dig to find "eggs" after following tracks to a simulated nest. What a great experience for these students and what an awesome learning environment.

Day 183: Setting Sun

I'm halfway through my "Seeing 50" project. I'm not feeling particularly accomplished this year so far, but I'm sure glad I'm taking time -- and feeling very lucky -- to see sights like this one.

This is detail on a piece by potter Steve Burrow. Art? Chaos? Just life?

Day 178: Waiting for my Ship to Come In

Today is the first of these 178 days that I forgot to put my camera in the car this morning. (How does one just forget after six months?) So I had to put the old iPhone to work. As I was waiting for my ship to come in this evening imagine my surprise when my plane came in instead!

Day 177: Name This Plant

I was lucky enough to hear field botanist Fred Nation speak today. He is an amazing source of knowledge about both indigenous and invasive plants and about historic culinary and medicinal uses of our local plants. Unfortunately I didn't ask him what the name of this one is.

Day 176: Fishing

The sun wasn't shining and the fog was rolling in when I stopped by Boggy Point this afternoon. There was plenty of activity above and below the waterline, though. This osprey was fishing in the same area as a pelican and pod of dolphins. I had a hard time catching any of them in the act.

Day 175: Stir Fry

I made stir fry last night and it just didn't make the grade so I had to try again tonight. It didn't make a very exciting photo op but it tasted much better this time around.

Day 173: Thoughtful

Ms. Cardinal looked very thoughtful sitting on branch in the back yard this afternoon.

Day 171: On the Bay

It's been too long since I caught a sunset on the water. It was a great way to end the week.

Day 169: Looking Back

We spent Easter afternoon looking through old family photos. They brought back memories from so many days gone by. Lots of the older ones though, made me so very curious about the the story behind them. This one of my parents is one of my favorites.
