Day 46: Billy's

I've been trying to get to Bon Secour for a couple of weeks. I got inspired when I was in Apalachicola a while back and have wanted to shoot the boats here, also. Today at Billy's Seafood was a good start. There's definitely potential here. There is also shrimp inside. And oysters. And tuna. -- Yep, I'll be back real soon.

Day 44: Winner

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. This is my pick for pic of the day.

Day 42: Big Birds

After yesterday's visit by the tiny fishers, this morning brought the big birds! Two pelicans, two cormorants and the resident heron were all competing for space. The best shots I got were of the pelicans flying away, but I like this one with the black and white treatment. I'll keep working on my focusing skills and maybe I'll get a keeper of them flying in one day.

Day 41: Tiny Fisher

My dock was a popular fishing spot this afternoon. This Carolina Wren (I think) was the tiniest fisher I saw. He made up for his small size with his impressive intensity.

Day 38: Family Recipes

There was A LOT of food to be thankful for at our family gathering today. Some tried and true recipes and some we just made up as we went along. My niece Angel did a wonderful thing to make sure we keep many of those family favorites close at hand. She's been busily scanning and copying all of my sister Deena's recipes and she made cook books for all of us. What a great gift! So much to be thankful for today.

Day 37: Happy Thanksgiving

We'll file this under "never put off until tomorrow . . . ." Wishing a happy holiday to all my friends and family. I am thankful for you all.

Day 35: Photographs & Memories

"All that I have are these, to remember you." -- Jim Croce. Just a nod to everybody missing a loved one this holiday season. I'm thankful for photographs and memories.

Day 33: Button, Button

I have this burlap hanger filled with buttons from years gone by. It makes me smile when I remember the events related to these; and grateful to have survived them all! And . . . It scares me to think of how long ago some of them were.

Day 31: Big Wheel

Girls' Night Out with April Boone and Kristi Woods started at the big wheel. Good friends, good deals, good food, good fun at The Wharf.

Day 30: Sunset in Biloxi

My timing was very lucky this afternoon. I got outside just in time to see the sun set.

Day 28: Lagniappe

I was lucky enough to be able to make a long weekend of it and catch one more sunrise before leaving Florida's Forgotten Coast today. What a gift! Another little extra: Phyllis and I saw a beautiful Bald Eagle yesterday as we were looking a for a spot to shoot one more sunset. Thanks again, Bear Woods Photography, it was a wonderful weekend.

Day 27: Waiting for Sunrise

The pelicans looked a bit fidgety this morning waiting for the sun to rise over East Point, Florida. If they'd turned around and looked behind them, they'd have seen about a dozen photographers lined up on the bank, looking pretty fidgety, too.

Day 26: Beautiful Morning

It was a beautiful morning to be out early. It was also a wonderful chance to learn some new techniques. Thanks, Bear Woods Photography, for a great workshop and for finding such a nice spot to start the day.

Day 25: Something Different

I was lucky enough to get to shoot several different locations in Apalachicola today. We saw some beautiful scenery and picturesque locations but my friend Phyllis and I decided to try something a little different, too. This one was her suggestion for picture of the day. I kind of like it, too.

Day 24: Classic

There aren't many of these signs left anymore. I was glad to see it still standing in front of a newly renovated restaurant in Panama City, Florida.

Day 23: Blank

Again tonight I was having a tough time coming up with a photo idea. I have a deck of cards called "52 Ways to Nurture Your Creativity." I picked up the deck and pulled one out thinking it would spark a great idea for my picture of the day. The title? "A Blank Wall." While the description on the back made a good case for "emptying your mind" in order to make room for creative ideas, it didn't prove too inspiring in this instance.

Day 22: Election Day

God Bless America!
I'm saying a little prayer for less divisiveness, more cooperation and a brighter future for all.

Day 21: A Walk Through the Dunes

Every day when I pass by this spot on the beach, I want to stop the car and walk down that boardwalk through the dunes. I'm always disappointed when I can't but I remind myself how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place and have such an amazing view. Today, I stopped for just a couple minutes -- this shot was taken from my car on the side of the road. What a difference stopping for a breath and acknowledging the beauty and blessings around me can make in a day!

Day 18: Stolen

I was running low on ideas this evening, so I blatantly stole this idea from a photography blog post I saw today. Lots of cool ideas on this site. I think I'll be trying more of them. Fun props to work with, too.

Day 17: Ready for Takeoff

I thought I had missed my chance for a butterfly shot this fall but they were out in force today. This perspective was interesting to me because we can see more than just the "pretty wings." There seems to be a lot of strength in those tiny little legs as they prepare for takeoff.
